Cheap Disney Vacation

My last Disney vacation was four years ago to Walt Disney World in Florida. I can still picture the fireworks at EPCOT the first night we were there. We stayed at Disney's Beach Club Resort and after we checked in, we walked to the International gate and strolled around the World Showcase until the fireworks started. It seemed strange to be someplace warm since it had been about 11 degrees when we left home that morning, and about a foot of fresh snow. To Floridians, the early December evening may have felt a bit chilly, but coming from up north, it felt like bliss to us! After the fireworks we walked back to the hotel and even went for a swim, relaxing in the hot tub and chatting with other crazy "northerner's"....none of the locals would dare go for a swim in December.

The days were the perfect blend of cool breezes, sunny skies, and all the magical memories Disney seems to do best. Even though we used to live nearby and visited WDW frequently, it was a first trip back in nearly a decade. A lot had changed - or at least there were a lot of new additions. Enough was the comfortable familiar Disney we were used to, with plenty of updates to capture our imagination. More changes have occurred in the four years since we were last there, so another visit would be welcome. One thing we didn't have time to do was explore the new (to us) Animal Kingdom.

The last night there, we dined at Narcoossee's at The Grand Floridian and had a front row seat for the Magic Kingdom fireworks across Seven Seas Lagoon. The entire restaurant got really quiet during the show, and everyone burst out in applause when it ended. It was a romantic and memorable end to our short stay that year.

The memories have not faded, and the wishes to go back remain as strong as ever. It may be awhile before I can make my next trip, but I remember each day of our last trip clearly and fondly. It truly is a magical place where dreams do come true.
